All students should be reading thirty minutes each night as a part of his/her homework. We will be working on building reading stamina and increasing comprehension of text for the remainder of this school year. Students will receive a reading log to use for homework beginning the week of September 12, 2016. Parent initials/signatures are required each night that you see your child reading at home for thirty minutes. I do check reading logs each Friday for a formative grade. Students who have all four signatures by Friday morning will receive a formative (homework) grade of 100. Points will be deducted if a student turns in a reading log without the required signatures each week.
LANGUAGE ARTS TUTORING IS AVAILABLE EACH TUESDAY MORNING THAT SCHOOL IS IN SESSION FROM 6:45 UNTIL 7:45 IN THE MORNINGS. PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING HIS OR HER CHILD TO SCHOOL NO LATER THAN 7:15.
You will find in the back of your child’s agenda username(s) and passwords for powerschools (checking grades) and a barcode for checking out books in the media center. It is important for your child to keep up with his/her agenda because of these very important stickers.
Students should use Study Island frequently in order to practice and master sixth grade reading skills. Students have Study Island usernames and passwords in their agendas.
